Fort Campbell Schools

Fort Campbell Schools include all learning institutions located on the Fort Campbell Army installation located between Clarksville, Tennessee and Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Fort Campbell Schools consist of five Elementary School Institutions: Jackson, Marshall, Barkley, Lincoln and Andre Lucas Elementary Schools; two Middle School Institutions: Wassom and Mahaffey Middle Schools; and Fort Campbell High School as the primary high school campus for the Fort Campbell post. The Fort Campbell area also includes several excellent colleges and institutions of higher learning: Austin Peay State University, Hopkinsville Community College, Troy State University, Brown Mackie College, Draughons Junior College and Miller-Motte Technical College.

Current Fort Campbell Elementary School enrollments are at approximately 3000 students between Pre-Kindergarten and Grade Five with roughly 160 full-time teachers instructing. Fort Campbell Middle School enrollments are at 700 students in grades Six, Seven and Eight with approximately 25 teachers instructing. Finally, Fort Campbell High School has over 500 students enrolled between grades Nine through Twelve and over 10 full-time and several part-time teachers.

The students attending Fort Campbell schools are exceptional because they are the children of brave men and women who are often away from home for months and even years at at time defending our country. A student in these circumstances is often required to be more self disciplined and motivated from within in order to achieve scholastic success. However, the miltary community at Fort Campbell, like many others around the country and the world, is a tight-knit group of men, women and children who seek to help and care for one another as each copes with the special challenges that life in the military brings. For example, before and after school study programs are in place to ensure that each child has access to tutelege for any subject that they may need additional help with. Also, individual and family support groups are established to assist military families in dealing with a multitude of issues including: stress, separation anxiety and financial affairs.

Fort Campbell schools offer competive and challenging learning environments that stimulate each student's desire to learn and grow. In addition, the schools assist the student in developing critical thinking and effective communication skills, promote and reinforce responsible social behaviors and foster positive attitudes and realistic self evaluations.
